DSIT Receives 78 PointShield Portable Diver Detection Sonar Order10 January 2018
DSIT Solutions Ltd has signed a contract with Tata Power SED (India) to jointly supply 78 PointShield Portable Diver Detection Sonar (PDDS) units to the Indian Navy. The order is considered to be the largest ever in the field of underwater security systems.
The PointShield systems are to be supplied to the Indian Navy under a special procurement programme called “Buy Make India”. Under this programme, some of the Diver Detection Sonars will be delivered by DSIT directly while the rest will be manufactured by Tata Power SED in India with DSIT’s supervision and support.
The Indian Ministry of Defense selected Tata Power SED and DSIT after a tender process, in which all international Diver Detection Sonar manufacturers, as well as large Indian companies, participated. The process included rigorous sea trials, technical evaluation, and commercial bidding.
DSIT’s Sales and Marketing vice president Dan Ben Dov commented: “This significant order strengthens DSIT’s position as the market leader in the field of underwater security.

DSIT’s AquaShield and PointShield underwater security systems are used by many customers worldwide. Both systems have been operational for many years and support automatic detection, tracking and classification of all types of underwater threats.
